Detection of compact objects by means of gravitational lensing in binary systems

چکیده
We consider the gravitational magnification of light for binary systems containing two compact objects: white dwarfs, a white dwarf and a neutron star or a white dwarf and a black hole. Light curves of the flares of the white dwarf caused by this effect were built in analytical approximations and by means of numerical calculations. We estimate the probability of the detection of these events in our Galaxy for different types of binaries and show that gravitational lensing provides a tool for detecting such systems. We propose to use the facilities of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) to search for these flares. It is possible to detect several dozen compact object pairs in such a programme over 5 years. This programme is apparently the best way to detect stellar mass black holes with open event horizons. Key words. gravitational lensing – black hole physics – stars: binaries – stars: neutron – stars: white dwarfs

The Detectability of Planetary Companions of Compact Galactic Objects from Their Eeects on Microlensed Lightcurves of Distant Stars
We discuss a possible method for detection of dark companions of galactic objects of stellar mass. Such binary systems are likely to occur in the galactic disk and possibly also in the halo. The high incidence of binary and highermultiplicity systems in the solar neighborhood, if indicative of the galactic disk at large, implies that current searches for the gravitational microlensing signature...
متن کاملModulation of a Chirp Gravitational Wave from a Compact Binary due to Gravitational Lensing
A possible wave effect in the gravitational lensing phenomenon is discussed. We consider the interference of two coherent gravitational waves of slightly different frequencies from a compact binary, due to the gravitational lensing by a galaxy halo. This system shows the modulation of the wave amplitude. The lensing probability of such the phenomenon is of order 10 for a high-z source, but it m...
متن کاملBinary Black Holes in Stationary Orbits
We show that under certain astrophysical conditions a binary system consisting of two compact objects can be stabilized against indefinite shrinking of orbits due to the emission of gravitational radiation. In this case, the lighter binary companion settles down to a stable orbit when the loss of the angular momentum due to gravitational radiation becomes equal to its gain from the accreting ma...
متن کاملDetection of Gravitational Waves from Gravitationally Lensed Systems
It is accepted that quasars are powered by supermassive black holes (SMBH) with masses in the range 10 − 10M in their cores. Occasionally, compact stars can plunge into SMBH. In addition, there may be a number of such compact objects circling the central SMBH in any given quasar. Both of these processes are known to emit gravitational waves. LISA has the right sensitivity to detect these waves....
متن کاملQSO-Galaxy Association and Gravitational Lensing
The amplification caused by gravitational light bending by compact objects in a foreground galaxy can affect the apparent number density of background QSOs, as well as their distribution in the fields of galactic halos. In this work we investigate the number enhancement of QSOs in the fields of galactic halos caused by point mass lensing effect and singular isothermal lensing effect, and apply ...
